Cache Valley Meeting
Tim Vitale, executive director of public relations and marketing at Utah State University, will speak during the Utah AMA meeting from noon-1:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Riverwoods Conference Center.
The title of his talk is “Cart/Horse, Horse/Cart? Managing Brand, Messaging and Crises while … Herding Cats. No, Lions.”
Mr. Vitale has worked in public relations and marketing at USU for 14 years. Prior to that, he worked 14 years as a writer, editor and editorial columnist at a newspaper and as managing editor of a business trade journal. In his new position, he coordinates USU marketing, crisis communication, media relations and a branding effort that is “in process.”
Mr. Vitale will discuss the process of building the necessary buy-in for university-wide marketing strategies at an institution that has an extremely decentralized power structure. He will use the branding process underway at USU as an example of effective ways to cultivate relationships with key inside people who are the critical voices in the final analysis. He will share details from a recent statewide Image Assessment Survey and show how those details were used as a stepping stone to comprehensive thinking about brand awareness, both externally and internally.
Lunch is $11. Students with a college ID are $5. Please pay at the door.
